BIO

Terry “T bone” Rhodes is a man of ever-evolving vision. Originally setting his sights on becoming a filmmaker, he worked his way through the ranks on such memorable New York and LA productions as ABOVE THE RIM, SMOKE, BASQUIAT, and THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES. Tbone’s love of entertaining started at a very young age. He confesses, “When I was three years old my family would stand me on the table and pay me to recite The Pledge of Allegiance and sing My County ‘Tis of Thee. Right then and there I knew what I wanted to do.”

Blessed with deep vocals compared to the likes of Lou Rawls and Louis Armstrong, and the styling of Bob Marley, Tbone found himself as one of the frontmen for The Sophisticates, one of New York’s most popular bands. After moving to Florida’s Gulf Coast, he formed his own band The Future Urban Zoo, touring extensively throughout Southwest Florida. Soon The Tbone Trio came together harnessing a solid repertoire of jazz, blues, rock, and standards.

Making Sarasota his home, Tbone lends his multiplicity of talents to directing short films and music videos. He co-founded Second Thought Productions and Supernova Megatainment, where he directed commercials for the Economic Development Corporation, GWIZ children’s museum and The Selby Botanical Gardens.

Sarasota theater audiences will remember Tbone in local productions of MISS SAIGON and SIDESHOW at The Players Centre and THE FULL MONTY at The Venice Theatre. Listeners of community radio station 96.5 WSLR, know DJ Tbone as the host of Music Scene and Be Seen, a program focused on Sarasota’s vibrant music scene.

As a community activist, Tbone founded Every Child’s Voice, an arts-based after school program designed to be a safe haven and hot meal for children, and COPE International (Council on Opioid Prevention and Education) to address the growing nationwide opioid epidemic.

The Tbone Trio and Future Urban Zoo continues performing today bringing their unique blend of music and vocals to the concert stage, special events, and community programs.

Tbone is presently available for acting roles, singing performances, voice overs and writing/directing projects. He is currently producing a one-man show titled, LOOKING BLACK OVER MY LIFE, a retrospective homage to the singers, songs, and historic events that inspired him and shaped his destiny.
